Super Bowl Thoughts. . .

1 February 2009

I am so amazed by Jennifer Hudson! Wow, that woman can SING! Her rendition of the National Anthem was one of the best I’ve ever heard. And, having heard it, I am now done with the Super Bowl, because I couldn’t care less about the Steelers or the Cardinals.

I did love the “Pre-Game Show”, though. Very patriotic, and I think that is exactly what we need right now. These are scary times, and everything seems so uncertain. We have a president who is working very hard to make sure that thousands of tiny preborn Americans never see the light of day, and while he’s at it, he’s going to make sure that our tax dollars go to help lots of preborn babies in other countries be denied their basic right to life, as well. The economy is crumbling and things look very bleak.

So it really is encouraging to see thousands of people come together to cheer for their teams and enjoy the evening. It was cool to see the “Fly-by” after the national anthem, too. There is just something awesome about that. As I said before, I don’t care who wins, but am glad to see some all-out patriotism on my television for a change. This is STILL the greatest country this world has ever seen, and hopefully it will continue to be so.

God Bless America! (And GO SPURS!!)

GO SPURS!!!!!

Tonight is Game 7 against the New Orleans Hornets. We’re 3-3. We have not been playing our best, so I’m thinking anything could happen! Especially since we will be in New Orleans. However, my consolation prize is that if the Spurs don’t do the job tonight, the Lakers will in the next series. It would be cool to see the Lakers and the Celtics face off in the Finals. . . .

GO SPURS GO!

8 June 2007

Not everybody knows that I love basketball, or that, as a kid, I used to spend hours shooting hoops in our driveway.  So not everybody knows that I am a rabid San Antonio Spurs fan, but it’s true!  In the midst of everything going on in our world right now, I have made time to sit down on my couch and cheer the Spurs on to make it all the way to the NBA Finals. And, in case you don’t already know, we won Game One last night against the Cleveland Cavaliers, 85 – 76.  (Go Spurs!)

It was a good game, lots of action, and the Cavs put up a valiant fight.  They’re a good team, and they’re hungry, because unlike the Spurs, they’ve never been to the finals before, and they want that trophy!  Unfortunately for the Cavs, we want it too.  That, and the fact that the Spurs have some really passionate prayerful fans.  I found the coolest article online this morning, and just had to share the link.  "San Antonio’s Nuns Offer Prayers. . . for Spurs"

So, now I’m off to bake cookies, make Chocolate Dessert, crab cakes, Potato Salad and such to prepare for Kendall’s graduation tomorrow, resting sweetly in the knowledge that I am not the only one praying for those Spurs!
